#107: Obama, the Election, and War on Iran

On Dec 5, 2011 in Post 99 I argued that we can expect Obama to ratchet up war fever ever higher as we approach the Nov election. In Post 100, I linked to an article supporting that thesis. The following article is showing the trend growing stronger:

The crisis in Europe is putting a lot of pressure on Obama’s prospect for another term, he desperately needs a BIG distraction. He also needs desperately to win back Jewish voters and Jewish money. An attack on Iran would give him both. He’s tried small distractions: the “war on women,” the contraception idiocy, Romney was a anti-gay bully in high school, Romney’s rich and doesn’t feel your pain, Romney’s wife hasn’t worked a day in her life, etc. etc. etc.. None of this has found traction. He needs a BIG distraction. That distraction is going to be war with Iran. Timing is hard to predict, but I would guess that the first strike will come from Israel with the U.S. protecting the Gulf (and trying to keep U.S. Jewish support) and providing tactical support sometime around the beginning of August.
